Tryouts

In April 2010, BCA All-Stars are planning to compete at the USASF/IASF Cheerleading World Championships in Orlando, Florida. The BCA All-Stars will represent the BCA and the best in British cheerleading.

We are on the search for Britain’s best cheerleaders and are holding tryouts on 10th April at the Midlands & University competition in Telford (times to be confirmed).

In order to be eligible for the squad, all cheerleaders have to be over the age of 16 on the date of tryouts and must have already competed at USASF levels 4 and/or 5.

If you are successful at tryouts then you must be able to make training on the following dates:
9th and 10th May
16th and 17th May
13th and 14th June
11th and 12th July
24th, 25th, 26th July (Nationals)

If you cannot attend any of these dates then you will need to notify us on the tryout form so we can resolve and perhaps move to a more convenient date that everyone can attend. However we strongly suggest not trying out for the team if you know commitment will be a problem.

The BCA All-Stars first public performance will be at the BCA National Championships in Coventry in July 2009 and so all cheerleaders have to be available for this date.

The BCA All-Stars have secured top American choreographer Joe Vecchioni from the Maryland Twisters, USA to choreograph the routine.

There will be training dates in addition to these to prepare for Worlds next year, which you will have to attend and these will be decided at Nationals. The location of the training dates will depend on the location of the cheerleaders who make the team.

The cost of the trip to Florida is approximately £1000 per cheerleader which will include flight, entry fees and accommodation for 5 days but this may vary depending on fundraising and sponsorship. The BCA All-Stars will be hosting many fundraising events across the country to raise money for this trip and will be seeking sponsorship/donations from businesses to help lower the costs.

If chosen for the All-Stars each cheerleader will be required to pay a deposit of £100, which will go towards training costs. They will also be required to sign a contract and code of conduct which will have to be returned before their first training date to secure a place in the team.

If you would like to try out for the BCA All-Stars and meet the above criteria then please complete the application form and send back to the BCA Head Office before 28th March 09. Alternatively you can email them to info@bcaallstars.com. You will be contacted by letter or email before tryouts to confirm details.

For the try outs each cheerleader must prepare a routine with the following criteria:

·        4 x 8 counts of dance – to be choreographed by cheerleader with music of choice.

·        1x cheer to incorporate the BCA All-Stars.

·        3x jumps of cheerleaders choice (all must be different).

·        Any tumbling skills you would like to display.

You will also be asked to perform stunting skills in various groups.

Those who are successful in becoming a BCA All-Star will be informed by letter/email by 17th April and will be required to return their signed contract by 30th April along with their cheque of £100.

If you have any questions regarding the BCA All-Stars please send an email to info@bcaallstars.com.

Thank you and we look forward to seeing you at tryouts!

Kind Regards
